This is an insane animated video. Watch it all the way through.

Why The Japaneses are Awesome

Takashi Murakami
//
Takashi Murakami is a Japanese artist who founded the postmodern art movement called “Superflat” which is influenced by manga and anime. The whole idea of Superflat derives from the “shallow emptiness of Japanese consumer culture” creating flattened forms of Japanese graphic art, animation, pop culture, and fine arts.
//
He actually worked with Marc Jacobs, the genius artistic director for Louis Vuitton, to come up with the Multicolore print for LV that debuted in 2003. It all started when Marc Jacobs went to the Cartier Foundation in Paris and saw Murakami’s exhibit. Being a huge fan of color, Jacobs was immediately drawn to Murakami’s joyful designs and fetish with manga (Japanese anime).
//
”I thought I would love it if the mind that imagines this dizzy-making world of jellyfish eyes, singing moss, magic mushrooms and morphing creatures would be willing to give a go at the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram” said Jacobs. So, together they worked on the rather fun project of revamping the Louis Vuitton Monogram until they came up with Multicolore and many other fun designs to spice things up from the getting-to-be dreary browns and tans at LV. How I would love to see the pile of sketches and mood boards from this reincarnation… sigh. Here is a spectacular video Murakami made celebrating his then 6-year relationship with Louis Vuitton… “Super Flat First Love.” Check it and dig it, right at the top.

Aside from Murakami’s artwork, he also runs an art production company called Kaikai Kiki LLC that promotes and manages new artists, puts on the GEISAI art festival, and produces art-related merchandise and animation.
//
GEISAI is actually a very exciting opportunity for aspiring artists. It is a competition that happens twice a year in Tokyo and Miami for artists all around the world. Every year new artists are chosen and those artists are taken under the wing of Murakami. His whole motive for Kaikai Kiki was to spur the Japanese art market away from “a shallow appropriation of Western trends, or an artificial construction of self-contained hierarchies” and to breathe life back into the art world that had seemingly disappeared during the post-war in Japan.
//
The lucky chosen artists not only get access to cool new technologies and admission into some of the world’s finest art exhibits but they get to be in the midst of TAKASHI MURAKAMI. I would seriously die to work with this man… Sigh #2. Too bad Kanye West got to him before I did.

Before ending this post, I am just going to add a little bit about how Murakami creates his work. His method of madness can be compared to that of Andy Warhol. It all began in 1998 when Murakami came to the US in search of an outpost for mass production to diminish the logistics and the costs of selling internationally.
//
 Located in Long Island City, Murakami has a building filled with assistants making countless amounts of artwork, just like Andy did. And, as Warhol’s studio came to be known as “the Factory”, Murakami called his the “Hiropon Factory” (in homage to Andy actually) although it is now named Kaikai Kiki LLC. Murakami is rarely there as he spends most of his time in Tokyo. He only comes to approve and sign the works when they are complete, and they are only complete when he says so. Other than that, he has no apartment in Tokyo or New York. He just lives in his studio.
//
”I wake up and sleep in the studio, restrict my diet to live longer, exercise, read piles of books, talk to my employees all day, do some drawings, and go to bed. That’s about all there is to my life. The only thing I have to look forward to is the moment a project gets completed, which lasts about three seconds.” The part of this quote that killed me was “do some drawings.” Talk about making a drawing and turning it into mass amounts of paintings, sculptures, clothing, CD covers, handbags, wallpaper, and so on. It is like giving that one single drawing dangerous amounts of steroids. Murakami has created an explosion of art.
An explosion.
It’s beautifully ridiculous.

Takashi, Kanye and Marc.
All famous, rich and, I am assuming, very happy.

Queen of Polka-Dots.

Why the Japaneses are Awesome NUMERO DEUX.
- Yayoi Kusama
//
Yayoi Kusama is one of the most intriguin artists of our time - at least thats what I believe her as. Although she suffers from mental illness, she has made the absolute best of her situation. It's ironically her hallucinations that bring about the inspiration for her art.. which are FANTASTIC representaions of polka dots!
//
She lives in japan in a mentasl institution by choice and travels evereyday to her art studio just down the street. She is known for often saying "If it were not for art, I would have killed myself long time ago."
You can tell from the photographs above, of how amazing she is.
//
When she was in New York in the 60s up against Andy Warhol, she kept track of how many publications were written about her in the newspaper compared to him. She exceeded his popularity by far, at least at the time. Known for her 'penis-chair', body painting festivals, fashion shows, anti-war demonstrations and nude public citings. AND I CAN SEE WHY! I urge you to check out her art online because it goes above and beyond what this post shows......
When I grow up, I want to be YAYOIIII!!!!!!
Well, at least amazing like her hahah

Nixon Digitals

You can't say Nixon has the best quality watches, but they sure do have the best looking designed watches. Each and everyone of their watches are s stylish, versatile and unique that it makes you wanna collect all of these! Personally the above two are my favourite watches that I've been craving to get. They are perfect for summer and the opaque white definitely brings that freshness and allows it to suit any outfit.
On the left is The Trigital and comes in 5 different colours. It is retailed for $120, and made out of injected silicone.
The right one is called The Newton Digital and it is retailed for $130, and comes in 7 different shades. I really prefer this one over the trigital and that is because, even though they are both 'simple' looking as they can be, the plain strap really turns me on. The simplicity in both watches are so exclusive and classy, it really is a must have watch.

Miike Snow - The Rabbit

Great video, great song.
Make sure to watch all of it because the ending is definitely the worth.

JACK + ROSE + 3D GLASSES

It's already been like 13 years since the last unsinkable came out. But according to Film, Titanic will return in 2012 in 3D! That is, only if everyone is alive, of course. To match the 100th Anniversary of the actual tragedy, of April 14th, 1912, it has been marked to be released in April 2012 as well. While the icebergs may look a little scary, I am prrretty excited to see Leo and Kate's lovey-dovey scenes up close ;)

J'adore IRINA DAKEVA.
//
Nuff said.
Featuring Irfane, this video was directed that hand drawn by the motionographer, Irina Dakeva. Awesome job for making more than 2000 water colour images to put this video together. Bravooo.

DJ Mehdi 'I Am Somebody'

Old but still hot, featuring Chromeo.
The Ed Bangers got a perfect gem of this video using the high-fiving, booty shaking session making it now so legendary.

KEN in PRORSUM

THAT is DOPE.

Burberry Prorsum FW 2010

This year's F/W collection from Burberry Prorsum has been by far the best of all of their men's collection.
They have just launched their new FW collection at Milan this month and it was quite impressive with the results of mixing in the fur, leather, buttons, and the military look. All I can say that this is perfect match for this year's trend. Especially with the Prorsum fur coats; I am super amazed with the design that Christopher Bailey set with because it is absolutely stunning with the patches, shearling furs, funnel necks, and the belts for the details. Every single coats that Burberry launched this season, is flawless and trendy for everyone to wear. TWO THUMBS UP UP.

The Kennedys

Unmistakably Cool

Onra - The One

This is the jam!
I’ve had it on repeat all day.
You’d think this song is a throwback (especially with the video), but it’s actually a new release. Features T3 of Slum Village.

CRACK ADDICT?

Does your nail come with these fault line?
DAMMM YOUU Australia! You guys have Ksubi, Koalas, Kangaroos..... and now another nail polish brand that everyone needs to have, right :( ? This nail polish is from BYS, and besides the matte, shiny, funky nail colours, they have something called CRACKED.
//
Yes, a polish that does exactly what you think.
//
It creates tiny breaks along the surface of your nails, making them look like broken teacups.. or even a pink earthquake. Yes?

Israeli Soldiers Dancing TIK TOK

Israeli Soldiers dancing to Ke$ha's TIKTOK (Rock the Casba in Hebron)

Justtt makes me laugh everytime I see this VIDEO!! You know, just how good will it be if 'war' was sucha happy thing?

But in conclusion, this video not only entertained us but has also brought up the controvercy where is this real soliders? Or is this planned out? And I still haven't gotten the real answer so I do not know if this is real or not.

However, I did hear from somewhere that it has been planned out and it was part of some TV show.

Oh well! At least I enjoyed it and like its comment for this video, PLEASE! no politics or hatred! Just enjoy it :)

Alexander Mcqueen: Faithful Boot

Absolutely stunning.
Personally, don't really like peep toe booties because it always made me wonder if they were supposed to be worn during the winter or the summer. Andd by looking at the fur attached... I guess its obviously for the FW season but ONLY this one in no doubt, I can wear it in all seasons if you want me to. This is actually the latest collection from Alexander Mcqueen and it is solely made by Lee Mcqueen before the tragic incident.
//
Another thing that makes me love Alexander Mcqueen's work is the fact that everything is in such quality and detail, it never disappoints you. It's purely my favourite and I love its hardcore, punky styles, at the time producing the luxury look when worn.
//
This item is called Shearling Trim Faithful Boot and currently listed as $1245. It is in black leather 'Faithful' buckle-down, zip-up ankle peep-toe boot with antique silver skull zipper and shearling trim. Heel height is 115 mm with 10 mm of interior platform heel. There is also a same one in Tweed but this Shearling one definitely stands out more for its cozzy fur and really reminding me of the Burberry Prorsum 2010 collection. I'm predicting that this winter will be very furry this year!!
